He is the son of a legendary Composer and Co Founder of Indo Jazz Fusion music, who started his Sitar training at a very early age and trained under prominent names in North Indian Classical Music. He has gained a B.Mus (Hons) at the Birmingham Conservatoire. His career so far has seen him play with artists such as Dave Stewart, The Smith String Quartet, The Bingham String Quartet, The Dub Pistols, Sarah Brightman and Sir Paul McCartney. He has also recorded a solo album for Cooking Vinyl Records. As a composer he has had performances of his orchestral works played at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham.
He has written for Erich Gruenburg, Joji Hattori and for his father’s band. He has toured extensively in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Australia. As a soloist he has performed all over the world including two very successful tours in India, which were warmly praised by the press. He continues to give Indian Classical Music performances all over the world. He is also in demand as a session musician and appears regularly on television and radio.
This sitar player is also available as a duet with Classial Indian Tabla (percussion). The Tabla player (pictured right) is one of the most sought after and busiest professional Classical Tabla players in the UK today. He started tabla at a very young age from one of the finest Indian classical tabla artists, Pandit Ramakant Mhapsekar of Mumbai. He has gained knowledge of many rare compositions, especially of Delhi, Ajrada,Farukhabad and Lucknow/Purab baaj (styles of playing).
He has also received training from Ustad Faiyaz Khan -Delhi/Ajrada Gharana. He has continued his focused on learning old classical tabla compositions some of which date back to almost 300 years ago. For the last 8 years, has been teaching and conducting workshops in the UK, in schools, community organisations, colleges and universities.
